At Helping Hands Nanny Agency we are now able to offer several different options for you from the initial introductions, to just being on hand to assist you at different stages of your search. Our NEW Verification Service includes Enhanced CRB Applications, Specialist Childcare Interviews, and Employment/Reference Checks for Nannies, Mother's Helps, Au Pairs, Babysitters and Housekeepers.
We appreciate that families often prefer to find their new nanny themselves rather than using the services of professional agencies. However employing a nanny yourself can be very time consuming with you often meeting candidates who aren’t at all suitable for your childcare requirements and getting stuck with the necessary employment contract and legalities in the workplace.
At present there are no provisions for a family to gain direct access to criminal record information in respect of a person they may wish to employ as a nanny and this can only be obtained through a business such as ours. This often leads to nannies working for families without some of the necessary up to date checks being made.
So if you have already found the perfect candidate to fill your role, why not get in touch with us and find out how we can support you through the important final stages of recruitment.
Enhanced CRB Application (police checks)
£30 - Administration fee. £44 - CRB application fee (payable by the candidate.)
Any person who works with children should be more than aware of the necessity of these checks and be happy to undertake the application to secure their employment.
An Enhanced CRB Disclosure is significantly more thorough and is the highest level of security. The Disclosure is renewable after 3 years and cannot be carried from one job to another. At Helping Hands Nanny Agency we use the company ‘Civil and Corporate Security’ to provide the checks and as part of our service we will endeavour to keep you updated throughout the process informing you of the result on its arrival. The CRB will be sent to the employee between 2-8 weeks.
The Enhanced CRB Disclosure checks the nanny on the following:
If the applicant has been banned from working with children in a childcare role. If this is so, their name appears on the list for the Protection of Children Act. If the applicant appears on what is formerly known as ‘List 99’. (This is now more recently referred to as Section 142 of the Education Act 2002.) If the applicant has previously been convicted of any offence.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please wait for the Disclosure result before making a recruitment/employment decision regarding the applicant.
Specialist Childcare Interviews
£50 - per interview.
A personal and in-depth interview lasting approx 40 minutes.
Our specialist childcare interview questions include the following:- How an employee might structure their working day, child development, meal times/promoting good eating habits, First Aid procedures and how to deal with challenging behaviour appropriately.
We will give you our professional feedback afterwards and a synopsis of the meeting will be prepared for your perusal.
If you live in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight we would be more than happy for one of our consultants to be present at your home, to guide and assist you whilst you are conducting interviews. Please contact us to discuss in more detail.
Employment and Reference Checks
£60 - for maximum of 3 references.
At Helping Hands Nanny Agency we have a specialist verbal reference checklist already in place to ensure that when speaking to past employers all important areas are covered.
This gives a clearer insight in how the candidate works, their previous responsibilities, quality of care provided, and most importantly their suitability for a position in childcare.
Once you have found your nanny we will check up to 3 verbal references using the details provided by the candidate.
